To win this war you have to give up the glory
A spiritual war is a paradoxical "non-fight" for peace, where we abandon domination
As part of my ongoing campaign to drive away as many readers as possible by telling people what they don’t want to hear, I would like to share with you some Bible passages around immersion (a.k.a. baptism) that build upon my earlier piece on What to tell a court about the law's remit. In a 3D war you win by beating the other side, but in a 5D war you win by not playing the game at all. We occupy a 4D interim situation where you have to discern whether you are facing a 3D or 5D situation and act accordingly.
The nutshell version is as follows: there are two ultimate spirits, being Creator (life, unity, peace, harmony, beauty, divine will), and Competitor (death, division, conflict, discord, ugliness, and self-will). The temptations are to veer towards darkness (debauchery), or false light (self-righteousness), with a very narrow way between these. The only resolution to our ills that creates lasting peace is to exalt the Creator and deny the Competitor space to operate. You cannot “meditate your way to salvation”, as it still seeks to resolve and reconcile conflict in your own will and energy.
As with the earlier example, I am not expecting most people to read this content right now, as it makes them uncomfortable. That is especially so for many in the truth, freedom, and sovereignty movement as the message is an unwelcome one: they are attempting to defeat the corrupt authorities via legalistic manoeuvres, when instead they should be providing testimony that makes the enemy’s operative no longer wish to support those immoral agendas. The pursuit of glory for oneself just results in restoring the preconditions for the new crop of “new boss, same old, same old”.
New life through faith, baptism, and grace
Ephesians 2:1-10 — Raised with Christ for good works
And you were dead in the trespasses and sins in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience— among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind.
That was me. No question. But I wasn’t at peace. And nothing I could do was leading me to peace, try as mightily as I did. I was torn between two masters, and wretched.
But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.
I had a fellow truther call me this week as he was struggling with the demands of fraudulent debt collectors. They steal your peace, and we don’t restore that peace by defeating them with lawsuits or flamethrowers. Our peace comes back through grace, attending to our own self-will first.
For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
One of my vices is boasting, and I have much to boast about! 🤪 Many in our families resent us and are quietly angry when we point out that they are deceived and living by lies; it seems we are arrogant, when in reality we are consciously competent, having done our homework. People believe truth when it is spoken in a humble spirit.
Revelation 20:13 — Judgment based on deeds
And the sea gave up the dead who were in it, Death and Hades gave up the dead who were in them, and they were judged, each one of them, according to what they had done.
Those who remain spiritually dead are subject to judgment, but those who become spiritually alive (via immersion) appear in the Book of Life and are not subjected to this ordeal. The legalism and contrariness follow us into the grave if we do not accept grace and repent our self-will.
Revelation 21:21 — New heaven and new earth
Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more.
This is the hope of us escaping Maritime Law and being treated like noisy smelly cargo.
Romans 6:3-7 — Dead to sin, alive to Christ
Do you not know that all of us who have been baptised into Christ Jesus were baptised into his death? We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.
For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his. We know that our old self was crucified with him in order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin. For one who has died has been set free from sin.
I struggled for years with living a personal life that was far below the standards I theoretically aspired to, and the consequences for my physical and mental health. It was the realisation that you cannot be a freedom activist at the same time as being enslaved to self-will that was my own emancipation moment. As being a freedom activist is core to my being, it implied I had to “take the deal” and repent self-will.
Romans 7:4 — Died to law, bear fruit for God
Likewise, my brothers, you also have died to the law through the body of Christ, so that you may belong to another, to him who has been raised from the dead, in order that we may bear fruit for God.
We are encouraged to register everything we have, including children, so we come under the law and are taxable. The default is freedom, but we give it away! As long as we turn to the state and its laws to be our salvation, we will be alive to the law and dead in our spirit. Launching lawsuits to remedy injustice only entrenches the law; it does nothing to fix the sickness in spirit that brought us into conflict in the first place.
Romans 7:6 — Serve by Spirit, not written law
But now we are released from the law, having died to that which held us captive, so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit and not in the old way of the written code.
The “written code” is not only statute, but also the religious doctrines and rituals that bind us to unholy traditions. The very core of Christianity is freedom from the law (and corrupt judges, attorneys, and police); they operate in the world of self-will so having their own self-will in play is to be expected. Yet in this reign of the Deceiver, most who take the name still operate in the spirit of legalism, so it seems.
Acts 2:36-41 — Repent, be baptized, receive the Spirit
Let all the house of Israel therefore know for certain that God has made him both Lord and Christ, this Jesus whom you crucified.
Now when they heard this they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?” And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is for you and for your children and for all who are far off, everyone whom the Lord our God calls to himself.” And with many other words he bore witness and continued to exhort them, saying, “Save yourselves from this crooked generation.” So those who received his word were baptised, and there were added that day about three thousand souls.
There is a whole separate story to be told about who the real Israelites are, and hence the covenant people, but that’s another article. The talk of the Holy Spirit made little sense to me as a child as everyone religious around me was self-righteous and hypocritical. It took the experience of the ∆Q network performance calculus in telecoms, and then Q in geopolitics, to teach me what the spirit of truth might be, and the meaning of holiness — being “set aside for a purpose”. Without those life experiences I would not be able to articulate it, as a spirit of holiness would be whacky woo still.
Galatians 3:24-27 — Faith makes us children of God
So then, the law was our guardian until Christ came, in order that we might be justified by faith. But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian, for in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith. For as many of you as were baptised into Christ have put on Christ.
In the last year this has (for myself) gone from crazy talk by people who worship wooden crosses to self-evident truth. Now, it turns out many have idolised wooden crosses, a printed book, or a heaven-sent Saviour — and not the God of all Creation they are meant to edify. But it took being beaten up in court many times, and realising that justice is not the point of jurisprudence, to accept that I was barking up the wrong tree. The law is there to teach us the limits of requiring other men to play-act as micro deities with more wisdom than our fellow men. A simple look at who got jabbed under Covid reveals judges are every bit as fallible as the rest of us, if not moreso.
What does it mean to be in Covenant?
2 Corinthians:6-9 — New covenant: Spirit brings life
God, who has made us sufficient to be ministers of a new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit. For the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.
Now if the ministry of death, carved in letters on stone, came with such glory that the Israelites could not gaze at Moses’ face because of its glory, which was being brought to an end, will not the ministry of the Spirit have even more glory? For if there was glory in the ministry of condemnation, the ministry of righteousness must far exceed it in glory.
Many seek salvation in the words of the Bible, but it is not there; the spirit is something else. I can think of family members who have dedicated their lives to studying scripture and yet the spirit of truth has bypassed them. Legalism is always a doctrine of death; it does not produce the innate abundance of the living natural world. The more legalism society has, the worse off it is; a broken windows type fallacy of creating value through low consciousness.
Matthew 7:21-23 — True obedience, not empty works
“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’
You turn up at a formal church every Sunday, you sing hymns in tune, sell charity Christmas cards, never utter a swear word, and volunteer at a homeless shelter. Yet you may still be damned! For it was all in vain, as it was done to seek glory for yourself. The whole point is you save yourself by relinquishing 100% of the glory.
Hebrews 6:4-8 — Warning against falling away
For it is impossible, in the case of those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, and have shared in the Holy Spirit, and have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the age to come, and then have fallen away, to restore them again to repentance, since they are crucifying once again the Son of God to their own harm and holding him up to contempt. For land that has drunk the rain that often falls on it, and produces a crop useful to those for whose sake it is cultivated, receives a blessing from God. But if it bears thorns and thistles, it is worthless and near to being cursed, and its end is to be burned.
Our worst enemies are not those who obviously oppose us, or deny godliness and love. It is those who pose as false friends, professing to believe, yet quietly plotting to deceive. They are the most damned of all, as they know that there is The Way, and have walked it, yet choose to turn around and seek wickedness, knowingly. For them there is no hope. When they harm children in the process, the millstones are deserved.
I continue to feel amazed and inspired, and deeply humbled by your writing.
Thank you, Martin
After reading of your personal challenges through the years I wondered, Martin, what your thinking was when you immersed yourself in the sea.
Thank you for yet again making sense of what I am struggling with; that is the need to figure out what parts of my faith would serve me moving forward. I couldn’t toss it all away, but sought to decipher what rang true. It has been daunting.
The vindication I hoped for is clearly my self-Will seeking glory. It could not be more obvious.
So I continue to just have one vision for myself: diving through a crashing wave, the quiet and sunshine I emerge into drawing me into a peaceful sea of God’s love. While swimming from the noisy shore (where the game is played) into the deep blue, I trust that I only need to live in honesty, decency, helpfulness, kindness, love. This. This is freedom.
