An amazing display of breadth and depth which starts with the mechanics of human perception and surprisingly winds up in theological revelation ! It leaves me speechless (almost).

Martin, you are continually surprising. Now you've explained how God's unconditional love in a Near Death Experience can so transform a person that their entire course through life is altered irrevocably. That is not something I expected to come of this overall use of AI and a traffic ticket.

The Adamic realm cannot judge itself because judgment requires stepping outside the Adamic realm.

Only the new creation can judge the old.Corruption is the old creation defending itself.

Martin, this is a sharp diagnosis of a real phenomenon: cached recognitions, recognition debt, institutions that can debate everything except the assumption that would actually have to die. Where I think the refinement overshoots Boyd is in treating OODA as a linear pipeline with missing stations, then inserting Recognize and Reconstruct between Observe and Orient.

Boyd did not hide those operations. He put them inside Orient, and he treated Orient as the Schwerpunkt of the whole loop, not a box after Observe.

In Organic Design and the later OODA sketch, orientation is already the implicit, continuous filter: genetic heritage, cultural traditions, previous experience, new information, and analysis/synthesis. “This is a bomber / this is a pandemic / this is a lawful government” is not a step prior to orientation. It is orientation doing its compression work. When the compression fails, the same process tears the model down and builds another. That is Destruction and Creation, Boyd’s first paper, not a fifth letter.

He was explicit about the cost of turning this into extra discrete stages. In Patterns of Conflict the wrap-up says the interactions are “a spontaneous, synthetic/creative, and flowing action/counteraction operation, rather than a step-by-step, analytical/logical, and discrete move/countermove game.” ORRODA recentralizes the discrete game. Complexity of that kind, he warned, captures commanders in their own internal dynamics so they cannot adapt to unfolding circumstances.

The phenomena you assign to 5GW–7GW are already in his three categories of conflict, running moral-mental-physical at once:

Recognition warfare is the payoff of maneuver conflict: disorientation: “mismatch between events one observes or imagines and events (or efforts) he must react or adapt to.”

Corrigibility warfare is folding the adversary back inside himself so reconstruction becomes theater: he investigates everything except the assumption that has to change. That is moral conflict applied to adaptability.

Reality / Root warfare is capture of the unifying vision, the “supra-orientation or center-of-gravity” he said you need for vitality and growth. Poison that, and coherent reasoning executes the wrong organism.

The operational pattern is not an extra letter. It is the game he already named:

Create tangles of threatening and/or non-threatening events/efforts as well as repeatedly generate mismatches between those events/efforts adversary observes or imagines (cheng/Nebenpunkte) and those he must react to (ch'i/Schwerpunkt)

as basis to

Penetrate adversary organism to sever his moral bonds, disorient his mental images, disrupt his operations, and overload his system…

“Getting inside the OODA loop” is that mismatch engine, at every level, not merely cycling the same four verbs faster.

Your Root / metanoia / repentance layer maps cleanly onto the constructive pole he insisted must run simultaneously with the destructive one. National goal and grand strategy amplify our spirit and attract the uncommitted; strategy and grand tactics pull the other side apart. Harmony, initiative, and adaptability are the counterweights to mistrust, menace, and uncertainty. Grace as rollback technology is a good name for lowering the cost of Destruction and Creation applied to the self. Love as refusal to make error irredeemable is close to his demand that a unifying vision remain open to unfolding reality, otherwise the Root has stopped enabling adaptation and started forbidding it.

So the useful part of ORRODA, for me, is pedagogical: it names the attack surface inside Orient that most OODA-as-checklist briefings flatten. The elegant design already contains it. Adding steps risks what Boyd spent the briefing warning against: being captured by our own schematic mental-model while the cheng/ch'i game continues upstream of the diagram.

The test he would apply is the same one you end on: not whether we escaped someone else’s ontology, but whether Reality still has permission to evict us from our own, including from ORRODA.
