Yesterday as I drove into the dead zones of radio receptivity where only NPR comes through I was once again given the opportunity to observe these very techniques you describe so eloquently. Listening to the introduction of the Fresh Air interview with Robert Draper about his new book Weapons of Mass Delusion: When the Republican Party Lost its Mind - provides an excellent education with all the usual pejoratives. A few minutes in, I got the NPR heebie-jeebies and clicked it off only to turn it on again to see where it would go. Draper’s condemnations of House of Representatives Maga supporters exhibit has impeccable cancel culture skills which are predictably and comically perfect.
