I so completely get this. Thanks for showing me how to say it. I know my childhood was abusive, but I didn't think about spiritual abuse. I am so very healed and whole now through the power of Jesus, but it has taken a long time as I am now 62 years old. But I feel great inside and out. Learning to truly enjoy all of life, especially the spiritual.
It's a pleasure following your journey towards alignment with the divine, I believe your honesty is very powerful and the framework you bring to the table is helping so many see the light. It took me 3 decades after being indoctrinated with religious dogma as a child to realise that their is a big difference between the business of religion and the divine creator. I smile a lot when listening to you because there are times you articulate what I would say if I had the words. Much respect and gratitude Martin.

Glad you shared that with us. If I look at my religion, we were/are always taught not to be of this world. As a kid, teen, young adult….you don’t get it, but in your mid 50’s, that “wisdom thing”starts kicking in. I call it the “I’m getting closer to going home and NOW It makes sense” revelation. After these moments of clarity, I find myself looking up telling God “this information would have been useful 20-30 years ago”! 😏
Similar story. Grew up in a cult, always knew something was off even as a child. My Sunday School teachers didn't like me questioning what they told me to believe (sound familiar?), but I had to. Religion/Spiritualism is full of oxymorons. Such as this question I would ask: If God *un*conditionally loves us, why do you tell me to fear him, (fear God and keep his commandments), and if I don't I am damned to hell. Doesn't sound like any unconditional love I want any part of! Another: If Jesus "paid it all for" why is there a judgment day for a Christian? It's been a struggle, but I solidly cut the ties with organized religion in 2012 - I've had 10 years to work on my spiritual wounds/scaring--it's a journey in itself, but all is well! Hopefully my spiritual infrastructure is sturdy enough for the storm that's brewing just ahead.

IMO, the entire "Biblical" mindset of the Western World has kept us enslaved & that is why after 70 years within said system I have come to the conclusion that The Bible has been one of the best "tools" in the Toolbox of The Controllers!! I think we can see how that affected Martin, & I know how it also affected my own life as the dau. of a Baptist minister & later as the wife of an abusive, religious conman!! It has been so "freeing" to step outside of the box I had been contained within!!!
That is why it was such a treat to come across the work of Anglican Priest, Paul A. Wallis, as he had come to many of the same conclusions I was forced to explore!! If you want a real treat, check out his 3 videos about Jesus in India!! We have accepted The Jesus Story passed down to us by The Controllers & it has worked very effectively for all these centuries to keep us enslaved within THEIR system!! Surprise, Surprise!!! ;-) Each of us is an Eternal, SOVEREIGN Being on our own Personal Journey, growing our Soul as we spend a bit of our Journey here on this planet for the moment!! Raised as a Catholic, I enjoyed the solemnity as a child, but eventually grew to resent the feeling of being talked at instead of to...if that makes sense. Blind obedience is simply not healthy. If the Covid cult has taught me anything, it is to learn to appreciate the power of forgiveness in the midst of incomprehensible stupidity.
